Home Eat has become my go-to spot for Chinese food. While it's not the absolute best in town, it's consistently tasty and reliable. Their chicken wings are a standout - I'm particularly fond of the salted egg yolk and classic dry fried with sweet soy sauce. The latter reminds me of San Tung's old (better) recipe, saving me a trip to SF. The personal hot pots are decent, though the meat can be overcooked. I'm a big fan of their pre-packaged sauces, especially the garlic and chili oil combo. I appreciate how they set up the tables with all the necessary dinnerware, making family-style eating very accessible. Service quality varies - it's usually very good, but occasionally it's hard to get their attention even when they're not packed. Their stir-fry dishes like eggplant, orange chicken, and kung pao chicken hit my average benchmark standards. The boiled dumplings are always well-seasoned and nicely made. One critique - the chow fun could use more wok hei. It often tastes like noodles in sauce without that smoky sear I crave. Home Eat's prices are very reasonable, offering one of the best quality-to-price ratios in the city. I'll definitely keep coming back!

The flavor that every dish has is amazing!!! This is only my second time here but already I can't wait till I come next time. This is the combo chowmein plate and the shrimp/pork dumplings The chowmein noodles remind me of the ones growing up and they take me back to my childhood!

4 dishes for $36... in this economy?! Something I like about Home Eat is their rotating monthly deals! My partner and I had a late dinner on a Thursday and were seated quickly in a booth. What we ordered: - Hot and Sour Soup: This was hot and very comforting to eat since the nights are getting colder. The broth was pretty thick and quite peppery. I think it would've been better if it's diluted or had less pepper. Aside from the broth, I enjoyed the woodear mushroom slices since it gave a bit of a different texture from the broth! - A Choy with Garlic: The veggies were cooked nicely with a good crunch to them and not overly seasoned. I enjoyed eating the garlic. - Green Onion Pancake: Very crispy but over time got really oily. - Spam and Beef Fried Rice: This was okay, had big chunks of sliced beef and tiny cubes of spam. Has a slight spice to it but it's spicy if you have a weaker spice tolerance. A lot going on in this dish from texture of all the veggies, meat, and rice.

This is the 2nd location of Home Eat restaurant that I've been to. Food, ambiance and service are consistent. You would think downtown would be hard to find parking but I've never had trouble when I come around 8pm. The food portion is very generous. Everything is good to excellent. I haven't had a bad dish at any of these locations. Everyone orders the orange chicken because it is the best of the best. I've never had orange chicken this good. It has the right amount of crisp without too much batter. It comes with broccoli that is also perfectly seasoned. It's so good that I wish they give more broccoli! The Tidu beef pot looks super spicy but it's not too bad. It comes with plenty of beef slices. I am not a fan of the peanuts so maybe I'd ask to separate them next time. I also ordered the spicy beef noodle soup. It has a lot of the Sichuan peppers so be ready for that numbing sensation. One person cannot finish this dish because it's heavy in flavor and a huge portion. I'm just OK with the dumplings/pot stickers here but my kids love them. I've been to this location several times now. The common orders are orange chicken, dumplings and a spicy pot dish. We love it here so much that we are considering their $1k gift card. You get $1,200 value for $1k.

This has become one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the area. From the very first visit, I was sold. Its service, cleanliness, speed, flavor of the food, friendly staff, and simple yet comprehensive menu impressed me. And the cherry on top? The prices! In this economy, they're affordable with generous portions--everyone wins! I know it's in downtown San Jose, but remember that the city offers two hours of free parking in the lots around the restaurant. On Sundays, finding a spot on the street is relatively easy, so give it a chance and enjoy their food.
